858 VEHICLES, MOTORCYCLES RECOVERED: POLICE

  Feb 07, 2021 LAHORE : Capital City Police Officer Lahore Ghulam Mahmood Dogar has said that Lahore police are the custodian of the rights, life and property of the citizens and they will provide maximum security to them to make the provincial capital a crime and drug-free city with the support of the citizens. Punjab Police Inspector General Inam Ghani has said that apart from crime fighting, strengthening and improving the atmosphere of mutual trust and cooperation with the citizens is one of his priorities and it will establish the identity of Punjab Police as a citizen-centric force. 18 NEW POLICE STATIONS IN LAHORE SUGGESTED

  Feb 17, 2021 LAHORE: Lahore police seek to establish 18 new police stations in the city to improve the operations for curbing crimes and ensuring law and order. Last year, the officials concerned had sent a proposal to establish 11 new police stations in the city. There are 84 police stations in the provincial capital. The inspector general of police (IGP) Punjab had reportedly asked the field officers some time back to send proposals for opening new police stations. He also asked for the related data including the crime rate of last five years, area and population to justify the need for new police stations. After a need-based analysis, at least 92 new police stations across Punjab were proposed. Now the AIG development has again asked for details in this regard. SHAKARGARH POLICE USING DRONES TO CONTROL KITE FLYING

  Apr 13, 2021 NAROWAL: Police in Shakargarh have started using drone cameras to control kite flying in the city, arrested two persons and registered cases against seven people for selling kites and the material used in it during the last one week. Police also seized more than 2,300 kites and 100 twine rolls and issued warnings to 63 youths and parents of children involved in the banned sport. DSP Shakargarh Malik Muhammad Khalil registered cases against five kite sellers. Chamal Police Station Sub-Inspector Hafiz Asim raided the village Ikhlaspur and seized 900 kites and chemical strings from a kite seller, identified as Rahat Ali. FORMER IG NASIR KHAN DURRANI LAID TO REST

 Apr 21, 2021 LAHORE  -  Former IG Nasir Khan Durrani, who died of coronavirus on Monday was laid to rest in the graveyard of Defence Phase-7 here on Tuesday with the state protocol. Earlier, his funeral prayer was held at Police Training Centre Bedian Road, which was attended by Punjab Governor, IGP Punjab, Capital City Police Officer Lahore Additional IG Ghulam Mahmood Dogar and other senior police officers.     CCPO Lahore Ghulam Mahmood Dogar laid a floral wreath on the grave of Nasir Khan Durrani and offered fateh for  the departed soul.   Almost all major daily newspapers of Pakistan devote a full page to crime-related news every day. Electronic media is not much different than the print one in this regard. Crime is also a genre for movies all over the world. This supply side of news is direct evidence that there is a demand for crime-related news. It is primarily due to two reasons: First, crime is a social phenomenon and its relevance for all the people in the society. Second, it has elements of curiosity and thrill associated with peculiar circumstances and drama attached to the good and bad aspects of each story. Contrary to many other parts of the neighbouring countries, Pakistani media portray the police as villains rather than heroes. In almost all of the stories, they are described standing on the side of the villains rather than victims.
